The Fitness Industry
foods to eat to lose weight. Its a big psychological game that the fitness industry is playing with us, and it dates back to our childhood. When we were kids, we were all taught in school that we could do anything we wanted to do when we grew up. Your parents might have even told you that you can achieve anything you want if you believe in it strongly enough. I know mine did. While this can provide great inspiration in lifes pursuits, it can also be used against you by others, and without you knowing. You are largely a product of your genetic makeup. Just as Mini-Me from the Austin Powers movies could never play in the NBA, a guy like Woody Allen could never win a heavyweight bodybuilding competition.

Skin Care - Inside Out

Skin Care - Inside Out
We discussed this earlier and you may have heard of skin care treatments such as
chemical peels, facelifts, dermabrasion, laser light, and all those wonders of skin science
that constantly make looking younger, fairer, more confident a reality for many people.
(Here’s where you can find more detailed information on skin care and
href=”http://bestskincareproducts.info/best-stretch-mark-creams-42.html”>stretch
mark removal cream.)
What if you were told that there was a way to make your skin healthier, younger looking
aside from these methods? A method that does not include scalpels, suctions, topical
solutions and others? Wouldn’t it be great? Alas, you might say, it hasn’t happened yet,
maybe some day in the far-off future. But what if you were told that it was possible even
today. Would you flip?
The wonder being talked about here is the wonder that has always been there - your body.
Your body has the ability to regulate itself, supply nutrients to various organs such as the
skin and generally give it a healthy glow.
The body also has the capability of improving how the skin looks. It can make the skin
more supple, radiant, healthy, and youthful looking. Taking care of the body from the
inside out has been grossly underrated. Caring for the skin in this way will result in a
more natural glow. This method of skin care in conjunction with other skin treatments
will result in the optimal skin care. (Here’s where you can find more
href=”http://bestskincareproducts.info/”>skin
care products reviews.)
If this is the case, then why doesn’t it do that exact same thing to everyone, you may ask.
Various factors will impair the body’s ability to do - bad diet, smoking, stress, lack of
sleep and other factors make the skin that old, scaly, thing many people see in front of the
mirror.

Effects of respiratory resistance training with a concurrent flow device on wheelchair athletes.
by Admin on May 31st, 2009
Effects of respiratory resistance training with a concurrent flow device on wheelchair athletes.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of respiratory resistance training (RRT) with a concurrent flow respiratory (CFR) device on respiratory function and aerobic power wheelchairs, www.easymedonline.com athletes. METHODS: Ten male wheelchair athletes (8 with spinal cord injuries, 1 with a neurological disorder, and 1 with postpolio syndrome), were matched by lesion level and/or track rating before random assignment to either a RRT group (n = 5) or a control group (CON, n = 5). The RRT group performed 1 set of breathing exercises using Expand-a-Lung, a CFR device, 2 to 3 times daily for 10 weeks. Pre/posttesting included measurement of maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV), maximum inspiratory pressure (MIP), and peak oxygen consumption (V(O2peak)). RESULTS: Repeated measures ANOVA revealed a significant group difference in change for MIP from pre- to posttest (P < 0.05). The RRT group improved by 33.0 cm H2O, while the CON group improved by 0.6 cm H2O. Although not significant, the MW increased for the RRT group and decreased for the CON group. There was no significant group difference between V(O2peak) for pre/posttesting. Due to small sample sizes in both groups and violations of some parametric statistical assumptions, nonparametric tests were also conducted as a crosscheck of the findings. The results of the nonparametric tests concurred with the parametric results. CONCLUSIONS: These data demonstrate that 10 weeks of RRT training with a CFR device can effectively improve MIP in wheelchair athletes. Further research and a larger sample size are warranted to further characterize the impact of Expand-a-Lung on performance and other cardiorespiratory variables in wheelchair athletes.

Drive By Inspections Jobs: What You Need To Know About The Job
by corestar on May 28th, 2009
If you have always wanted to be an individual who wants to travel around the world, then jobs that comes with travel conditions (such as drive by inspections jobs) is truly a dream come true! Even if the main purpose of these trips is business, you will still find some time to sight-see and discover a little bit the spirit of the land. Sales positions are commonly the most constant jobs that require travel making as they count on the visits given to promising clients located in the same geographical area or somewhere else in the country (even abroad). A practice actualized by many companies today is to give jobs to local sales people from a certain area so as to address the business necessities of clients located in the neighboring states/cities.
People whose occupations require travel-making drive a company’s car as the employers themselves are the ones that usually covers the costs for the transportation, and in addition to this, the same payment policy is applied to all the cost of the business trips as well as to the eventual accommodation for rents if the trip would require overnights. Other jobs that require travel availability are regional management positions: this describes the case of the managing staff of restaurants and retail chains, and other businesses that extend to over several other states. What they have is a pyramidal reporting scheme: the store/restaurant manager reports to the regional manager, who in turn will file a report to the higher executive level.
Some jobs that require travel availability aren’t stately by nature: these assignments typically extend to the national or even the international scale. Such is the case with reporters, public speakers, software installers, personnel recruiters, trainers and other professional categories who need to target many types of clients that aren’t described by geographical boundaries. Before applying for jobs that require travel, have a self-evaluation to address this question: are you quite capable enough of handling this kind of position?
For some people, life on the road didn’t meet their expectations, as they didn’t have all of the clues to understanding the nature of the job they were hired for. Whereas in some other cases, trips made for the purpose of business (like those of the drive by inspection jobs) are in reality a very energizing experience even if the reality of the business is not that alluring. All sorts of professional assessment guides, training courses (such as a field inspector training) and informative guides are great ways to help a person discover if he/she is made for jobs that would require travel availability. Good luck!
Skin Care Products For Men: Hair Removal Methods For Men
by corestar on May 28th, 2009
There are many kinds of removal methods used by men and women. The most used products are tweezers, shaving creams, and many more. The choice depends completely on the person as their hair and skin types differ. There are times that a product that works on one person might not work out on another. So, for men’s skin care, knowing a lot about those various shaving and hair removal choices in the market, and then knowing what fits your hair and skin right will help you to choose which is the best product for you.
One popular method for hair removal for both men and women is shaving. It is really an economical and convenient method. The shaving method cuts the hair at the skin’s surface. The wide array of razors available through the market provides a person a chance to utilize different kinds of styles that offer different levels of comfort and closeness. Razors are cheaper compared to other products used for hair removal for men.
People can choose to buy an electric razor and then use it for a long time, as it is not expensive.
Even though shaving is a great hair removal technique for many, some who utilize it may get skin irritations one can have and the quick re-growth of hair. This thing occurs due to the fact that shaving only cuts the hair on the skin’s surface and not beneath it and this is why the tendency for the hair to grow back is much higher than other methods. It’s best to use it on a skin that isn’t so sensitive and whose hair doesn’t grow back that fast.
Using skin care products for men like depilatory creams is another famous method of hair removal for men. It’s quite true that these creams are used by many women, it’s not quite surprising that there are also men who use it to remove their unwanted body hair. Once the cream is applied and kept on the skin for around 10 minutes, it will dissolve the hair located at the root. This feature make them effective skin care products (just like products such as those stretch marks lotion, skin lightening creams, etc.).The re-growth of hair will take a longer time and is quite better than shaving. Like shaving, depilatory creams can also irritate the skin for those with sensitive skins.
Before, a lot of women utilized sugaring and waxing as techniques of hair removal. What was being used by women in the past is now becoming a famous method among men. Although it’s quite painful, waxing is an effective way of removing hair from the root.
You’ll observe that some men have unwanted hair growing in their ears and nose. As a part of men’s skin care, personal shavers are used and are quite effective in removing hair located in the hardest areas of the body. This is the best technique for men in shaving those areas of the body as it causes the least amount of skin irritation.

Comparative evaluation of chargers for wheelchair gel cell batteries
This study was undertaken as part of our ongoing work to upgrade wheelchair quality. Laboratory tests were conducted to determine which battery chargers would ensure that the user’s batteries are fully charged each night and also ensure that the battery lifetime was not diminished. Five commercial chargers were tested on a standardised pair of gel cell batteries of a type commonly used to power wheelchairs and medical scooters. Results of this study indicate a clear preference between chargers. As a result, we have changed the chargers we purchase. We anticipate that our clients will now experience longer life from their wheelchair gel cell batteries.
Power output and metabolic cost of synchronous and asynchronous submaximal and peak level hand cycling on a motor driven treadmill in able-bodied male subjects.
by Admin on May 24th, 2009
Power output and metabolic cost of synchronous and asynchronous submaximal and peak level hand cycling on a motor driven treadmill in able-bodied male subjects.
PURPOSE: To evaluate external power output and physiological responses of synchronous (SYNC) and asynchronous hand cycling (ASYNC) at submaximal and peak levels of exercise. METHODS: n=9 able-bodied male subjects (age: 20.1+/-2.1 years) performed two (sub)maximal continuous hand cycle exercise tests, using the SYNC and ASYNC mode in a standardized commercial add-on hand cycle unit (counter-balanced order). Treadmill speed (1.89 and 2.17 m s(-1)) and slope (steps of +1%) were changed in a fixed sequence of 3-min exercise steps. www.easymedonline.com Gears were adjusted to 65 rpm. External power output (PO) was continuously monitored with a strain-gauge instrumented chain ring ((SRM) Schoberer Rad Messtechnik). A conventional power wheelchairs drag test was performed to validate mean external power for each speed-slope combination. Heart rate (HR; bpm) and oxygen uptake (VO2; ml kg(-1) min(-1), SMTP) were continuously monitored. Paired T-tests and ANOVA for repeated measures evaluated effects of mode and exercise level (p<0.05). RESULTS: Subjects reached peak levels of performance (RER: 1.05+/-0.07 versus 1.10+/-0.1 for SYNC and ASYNC). Peak PO and Formula: see text were significantly higher for SYNC (81.6+/-11.8 W versus 68.5+/-10.6 W; 26.4+/-4.5 ml kg(-1) min(-1) versus 21.2+/-3.0 ml kg(-1) min(-1)). At submaximal exercise levels, gross mechanical efficiency (ME) was significantly higher for SYNC (12.1+/-0.9% versus 9.7+/-1.4% at 41 W). No significant differences were found for PO (at equal velocity and slope), as derived from the SRM (SYNC and ASYNC), and from the drag test. DISCUSSION: The absence of any differences in PO between SYNC and ASYNC, and with respect to the drag test, rules out 'additional external work due to maintain the desired heading' in the ASYNC as an explanation for the lower performance in this mode. Lower peak performance and ME in ASYNC may be explained by the increased stabilizing muscle effort in the upper extremities and trunk in order to combine power production with stable steering. ASYNC is less efficient compared to SYNC. Similarly, peak performance capacity was higher for SYNC. CONCLUSION: External work does not differ between SYNC and ASYNC hand cycling. SRM readings appear valid for PO monitoring in hand cycling within the studied range of PO. SYNC is more efficient than ASYNC and leads to higher peak performance
Integrated control and related technology of assistive devices

Integrated control and related technology of assistive devices
Assistive devices are now available that allow persons with severe physical disabilities to complete tasks independently. When the user has severe physical limitations, it may be advantageous to have an integrated control system where a single control interface (e.g., joystick, head switches, voice recognition system, keypad) is used to operate two or more assistive devices (e.g., power wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices, www.easymedonline.com, computers, environmental control units, and other devices that are controlled electronically). The advantages of integrated control are that persons with limited motor control can access several devices with one access site without assistance, and the user does not need to learn a different operating mechanism for each device. The purpose of this review is to convey the depth and breadth of the research that has been conducted on integrated control systems, as well as to provide some insights into future directions. We reviewed research works pertaining to communication and environmental control, computer access, and wheelchair guidance systems. Information gathered in this study will help people become fully aware of the status of contemporary integrated control technology in order to increase the quality of life of people who use electronic assistive devices.

Evaluation of pushrim-activated power-assisted wheelchairs using ANSI/RESNA standards
OBJECTIVE: To determine and compare performance of pushrim-activated power-assisted wheelchairs (PAPAW) (iGLIDE, e-motion, Xtender) on national standards. DESIGN: Engineering performance and safety evaluation. SETTING: A Veteran Affairs and university-based research center. SPECIMENS: Nine PAPAWs. INTERVENTIONS: Not applicable. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Static, dynamic stability, brake effectiveness, maximum speed, acceleration, retardation, energy consumption, static, impact, and fatigue strength. RESULTS: There was no significant difference among the 3 models in forward stability. The iGLIDE was the most stable, whereas the e-motion was the least stable model in the rearward stability tests. All PAPAWs performed equally on the slopes of 3 degrees and 6 degrees in the forward and rearward directions. Braking distance was the highest for e-motion (5.64+/-0.28m) and the lowest (1.13+/-0.03m) for the iGLIDE in forward direction. The average equivalent cycles of all PAPAWs were 318,292+/-112,776.6 cycles (n=8) on the fatigue tests. All PAPAWs passed the impact and static strength tests. CONCLUSIONS: The standards of the American National Standards Institute and www.easymedonline.com, power wheelchairs the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America could act as quality assurance tool for wheelchairs. The standards for wheelchairs were first approved in 1990; after 17 years, exceeding the minimum values in the standards would be a reasonable expectation

A dynamic seating intervention for wheelchair seating discomfort
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a new user-adjustable wheelchair seating system designed to relieve discomfort for long-duration wheelchair users. DESIGN: This objective was carried out using the newly developed Tool for Assessing Wheelchair disComfort (TAWC) as the primary outcome measure. Two wheelchair users each tested two different designs and feedback from the wheelchair users regarding the first design was used to guide development of the second design. A single-subject research methodology was used, allowing long-duration (up to 2 wks per test) evaluation of the wheelchair seating systems and comparison of subject discomfort levels with those experienced during a baseline period using their own wheelchairs. The experimental medical scooters, www.easymedonline.com seating systems employed existing automotive seating with embedded pneumatic bladders that allowed adjustment of the seat and back-support characteristics. The test wheelchair also had tilt, recline, and elevating leg rests. RESULTS: The two subjects completed limited periods of testing with the first design, both finding poor results with either stable or increased levels of discomfort. Subject feedback was used to redesign the wheelchair seat. After redesign, both subjects tested the second design and found it substantially more comfortable. CONCLUSIONS: The selected research methodology was a very positive method for a progressive wheelchair seating design and the second design provided improved comfort for both users when compared with that experienced using their own wheelchairs and the first test wheelchair. Future research of this type of user-controlled technology is recommended

Are you stepping out into success?
by Admin on May 19th, 2009
Are you stepping out into success?
Many of us think of applying the pressure as failing. ‘The pressure is coming. Oh my gosh! What
am I going to do? The pressure is coming.’ But pressure doesn’t need to be a negative: I love
this quote.
Pressure is a word that is misused in our vocabulary. When you start thinking of pressure, it’s
because you started to think of failure. Tommy Lasorda
When you stop and think about what happens in life, pressure is being applied constantly in
many different arenas. An example would be rush hour traffic that puts more and more pressure
on the highways. As the population grows more and more pressure is added. What happens? Do we,
as a society, give up and say ‘oh, well. Too Bad? It’s just going to take you that much longer
to transit into work’? Your commute time, instead of being an hour and a half, is going to be 2
hours. And in 3 years from now, it’s going to be 4 hours. Or do we take the action, as a
society, as a city, as a person and do something to relieve that pressure? Yes we do something
that will alleviate the pressure for all of that traffic coming into the downtown core.
We as a society, as a city, step into success. We do something to alleviate that pressure. We
can learn to apply that concept in our life. Instead of taking a look at the pressure as a bad
thing we can use it to build something new, a bridge to our future. Do we do what Tommy Lasorda
said-misuse that word ‘pressure’ and think of it as ‘oh, I’m going to fail, I’m going to fail’
and then give up? - or do we CHOOSE to do something different and step into our own success?
We all have habits. What is your ‘it’? What is the ‘it’ that stops you? When you start to feel
that pressure, what do you do? Next time that happens, I want you to stop and think, ‘what am I
automatically doing here’? Then decide to do something different in order to get a different
result.
When I was first introduced to this concept, I did not recognize what habit I fell into until I
was all the way in it. Stress eating was one of the things I used to do. As I learn to
recognize where that pressure point is, what my habit is, what my ‘it’ is, I, can learn how to
change it, how to react differently.
I just watched the movie ‘What the Bleep?! - Down the Rabbit Hole’. One of the concepts in the
movie is that we, as human beings, are bombarded every second with 400 billion bits of
information. We only process 2000, therefore we need to choose carefully which bits we pay
attention too. When we succumb to the pressure and fall into a negative habit, like I used to
when I was stress eating, we are selecting only a narrow negative portion of information from
the 4 billion bits..
I have decided that I am going to choose a different 2,000 bits of information. It really is
just a choice.. We need to recognize what our habits, and that we can change our habits.
Millions of people have learned how to stop the stress eating habit. Millions of people have
learned how to quit smoking. Millions and millions of people have learned how to make their
life and best home business to start better, how to step into
success. If they can do it, I can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. It’s all just a simple
choice, to make a different decision.
If you are a parent ask yourself, if you choose non-success habits, what are the habits and
passions that you are creating in your children? Are you creating a generational curse or a
generational legacy? Another great quote is “children have never been good at listening to
their elders. But they have never failed to imitate them”. by James Baldwin. Even if you aren’t
a parent what about the influence you have on the people around you?
We need to learn to recognize when we are backing off from pressure, when we are moving into
the habits that are not success habits (the ones that we need to change). We also need to
recognize the habits that we have that are good, that are leading us towards success, leading
us to our financial freedom. We need to be aware so that we can make changes in our negative
habits and reinforce our positive habits.
We need to learn to recognize that when we wish for something, ask for something, pray for
something or when we say affirmations for something, it’s not going to just happen. It’s not
going to be handed to us on a silver platter. One of my affirmations is “I am building a team
of dream achievers” Now, I know that that is going to take patience and perseverance and that
this whole team of dream achievers are not just going to be dumped in my lap. I have to go
looking for them and attract them into my life.
As I go down the personal development journey and build my best home
businesses from home I come up against pressure points all the time. When I think back to
the pressure points in my life last year at this time versus this year - whoa! - last year’s
ones seem really simple now. What happens? We are not given exactly what we want right off the
bat. But we are given the opportunity to develop the skills so that we get better. On my
journey, I am becoming a better team leader. I am practicing my patience and my perseverance in
my own learning so that I become that better learner that attracts, using the Law of Cause and
Effect, that team of dream achievers, the team of business builders.
When that pressure is applied in our lives, patience and perseverance, is what we need in order
to grow through that pressure point. Once we do grow and find different habits to allow us to
get past that pressure point, to allow us to develop the skills, to learn those new things that
we need to learn, we come to a better place and we can handle more pressure. We have new
skills. We know something different. We react in a different away. We remain patient. We
practice the perseverance and can step into success.
Are you applying enough pressure? Are you stepping out into success? Take a look at your
habits. What do you do when the pressure hits? Are you giving yourself the opportunity to
develop a new skill, to become even better than you already are? I would love to hear about
those experiences.. Send me an email at Carla at retirewithcarla.com or give me a phone call at

the things that you have done differently?

Consumer participation in identifying research and development priorities for power wheelchair input devices and controllers
A focus group comprised of persons who use power wheelchairs, handicap scooters and professionals working in the field were asked to participate in a brainstorming session to determine priorities for the development and application of power mobility input devices and control concepts. The group consensus was that durability and reliability are the most important criteria. Essentially, the expectation is that a power wheelchair must work everyday in the way a person needs it and wants it. At the same time, there is a desire to enhance and advance the features of input devices and control systems. Many would say these changes constitute designing “smarter” power wheelchairs, such as systems that can independently detect obstacles and can provide users with more feedback. This paper presents the rationale behind forming this focus group and details of the results of a brainstorming session where ideas were generated and prioritized. The five most important issues as determined by the group are discussed in depth.

Frequent Washing - Frequent washing and bathing, usually more than once a day
depletes your body with moisture and natural oils. Also, limit your bathing time within 15
minutes.
Weather - Winter is one major factor in the development of a dry skin. The use of
humidifier, in most cases, solves the problem of the effect of the climate. It compensates
for the insufficient humidity needed for the preservation of skin moisture.
This is because cold air cannot afford to hold adequate amount of water to serve skin’s
moisture demands. Warm air on the other hand holds enough humidity to keep the skin
moisturized at a certain level.
Patients under medication - People taking diuretic drugs remove water from a patient’s
body because the kidney will less likely reabsorb the water filtered through it. In this
case, frequent intake of water is needed. (Here’s where you can find more detailed

Reliability and validity of the power-mobility community driving assessment

Reliability and validity of the power-mobility community driving assessment
The Power-Mobility Community Driving Assessment (PCDA) is a performance-based measure designed to assess driving performance of individuals using power wheelchairs or www.easymedonline.com in community environments. This article reports the results of pilot testing and an evaluation of the assessment’s reliability and validity. Pilot testing was conducted with a random selection of Canadian occupational therapists working in the area of mobility. Although the response rate was very low, feedback confirmed the utility of the measure and contributed to one substantive scoring revision. Reliability and validity testing was conducted with a sample of 34 drivers. Internal consistency results were positive. Interrater reliability was fair to high but limited by the lack of variability in the scores. Construct validity hypotheses were tested on the relationships between PCDA scores and vision, perception, cognition, and environmental accessibility. Results indicated no relationships between the PCDA and perceptual and cognitive function and only a weak trend for a relationship with environmental accessibility. Concurrent validity was established: PCDA scores were positively associated with the judgments of therapists familiar with the driving performance of participants. In summary, the PCDA has moderate to good reliability, and content and concurrent validity results were found. More research is needed, particularly on the underlying constructs of successful driving performance. At this point, rehabilitation professionals and their clients are urged to use this assessment to establish driving performance rather than relying on assessments of perception, cognition, or environmental accessibility to predetermine whether someone will receive power mobility. Clinicians may find this a useful tool to identify where clients are able to drive safely in community settings, to identify specific learning needs, and, through those, to promote independent living for drivers of power-mobility devices.
